Wa Whaanau - Te Pae


Teena taatou e te whaanau whaanui o Te Pouahi!!

Everyday from 8:55am - 9:20am the tamariki mokopuna of Te Pouahi gather together in our whare, we call this time our Waa Whaanau. We have a Pae which are responsible for facilitating the very beginning of our Waa Whaanau. The Pae are is made up of tamariki from Te Pouahi 15 Each tamaiti on the Pae have a special responsibility. These are the 5 responsibilities on our Pae. 

  • Kaikarakia - This person is responsible for the leading of our karakia.
  • Kaimihimihi - The greetings and acknowledgments which are all part of tikanga Maori. 
  • Kaiwaiata - Leader of the song
  • Mihi - They are responsible for thanking all of the previous speakers, greeting and acknowledging teachers and their peers.
  • Pepeha - Identification of who they are, where they are from, who their whaanau are.
